FQotD: Lightning Round 3 – Electric Booga… lee?

February 29th, 2008

Big Fat Goalie!

Have you ever eaten a crayon?

Not that I can recall… Dirt, yes. Crayon, no.

I don’t think so…I don’t know of any stories of me eating anything out of the ordinary.

What was the last thing you had to drink?

Hot tea right now. Last night it was a mojito.

I wish I could say a vanilla latte because I am dying for one right now, but it would have to be a glass of orange juice last night.

When is the last time you ran?

I can’t give you a date but I can almost assuredly tell you that it was recently and it was because of Aaron. 2 year olds are fun. If he’s not running around willy nilly in an active parking lot, he’s either climbing on something that will hurt him if he falls or getting into something that he shouldn’t get into. Keep your eyes on him at all times…

I think I might still be running from the time that dog jumped out at us when we were walking back from lunch in high school. It is like in the cartoons when they run so fast that they leave a dust cloud shaped like them behind – I think I am that dust cloud, the real me is still running somewhere.

Your dream vacation?

Well, I’ve got at least three dreams running simultaneously so here they are: For the family: two weeks at Walt Disney World. For me and the mrs.: cruise to Alaska. Me? I’m simple: Vegas.

Probably either taking a train through Europe or an island somewhere with no one else around

Worst injury you’ve ever had?

I was hit by a car when I was on a scooter and I broke my left leg. Well, I didn’t break it, the car did. Longest day of my life…

I guess I am lucky – I have never broken a bone or had a major injury – nothing but minor scrapes and cuts, although my brother did hit me in the head with a padlock he was swinging on a rope when I was younger. From what I hear it bled quite a bit and I still carry the scar.

Last play you saw?

I saw “The Odd Couple” at the Downey Civic Theater in Downey, CA. My mother in law had free tickets and she gave them to us. It wasn’t our first choice of things to do but it was free, she was watching the kids for us, and so we jumped at the chance to be alone for awhile. It was just as magical as you would imagine it to be. I think I laughed once. But it was still neat to watch and I won’t take anything away from those people because Lord knows I’d be too afraid to do it.

I honestly don’t remember the last play I went to…I am so uncultured

Do you miss anyone right now?

Outside of all my friends and family that I don’t get to see that often, I’d have to say that the person I miss the most right now is Alexis.

I miss my baby girl because today was the first time in a long while that she cried and got all clingy when I dropped her off at daycare, normally she is like “see ya, Pops…got things to do and people to see” – it made me sad

What are your plans for tonight?

Not working hopefully – staying in tonight I think. Have to wake up early for Ben’s basketball game tomorrow. But if we do anything tonight, it will probably be Rock Band related. Münkeeface rules!

Quality time with the family unit. Whenever anyone asks if I am going out this weekend I just cock my head to the side like a confused dog and say “Go…out? Like outside my house?”. It has been so long…

Last time you got stopped by a cop or pulled over?

I got pulled over for not having tags on my car. Lame.

I have never been pulled over by the police – the streak continues…

Would you be president if you could?

Oh, hell no.

Never ever ever. Never never. Never. Ever.

Do you think you got what it takes to face us in the lightning round?

Do you have an abundance of burning/random/personal questions that you need answered by your favorite bloggers — or us, if they aren’t available?

Send them in and you may have your questions answered on… The Lightning Round!

Who am I?

February 28th, 2008

Who watches the watchmen?

Sometimes in everyone’s life, they have to take a long hard look at themselves, travel inward toward self-discovery, and finally, make a decision about who they are as a person.

[Insert introspective pause here]

But I don’t have time for all that nonsense! So, I’ll just take some random personality tests that tell me who I am from some of my favorite T.V. shows!

First up: The Simpsons! I love this show! Let’s see who I am most like in the town of Springfield:

Barney? Well, I guess it could have been worse. I would have picked Comic Book Guy but I guess I do tend to burp a lot. Just ask Carla.

Next up: The Family Guy!

Ok, that’s some messed up crap right there. I’ll take jovial and dim but “almost certainly overweight?” Like Homer Simpson without the good qualities?! Ouch. That’s not cool… I don’t care if it is true… that’s messed up.

Maybe “Friends” will treat me better.

Ok, well, I was hoping for Chandler with an outside chance of Ross or Joey. Really, any one of the six that isn’t a girl. But there is only six of them and I just happen to be like… Monica. Oh well, at least we both married our best friends.

Alright, let’s check out “Heroes”! Now there’s a show with lots of guys to choose from:

sigh… really? Apparently I’m flighty and clueless, like every teenage girl. W.T.F?!

Alright “The Office”, help me out of this hole that I’ve currently dug myself into (c’mon Jim! c’mon Jim!):

Dammit! Not even Pam! I get frickin’ Angela!?!?

That’s it. I’m going to dark side. Let’s see what T.V. villian I am most like:

ARGH!! Sharpay?!? Isn’t that a type of dog?!? I can’t even get a male villian? And a villain from a lame teeny bopper special… was the mostly effeminate french villian from the restoration period not available? Frackin’ crap…

*sigh*

Ok, so let’s get this little excerise of embarrasments over with.

To sum up: I am a flighty and clueless control freak who is jovial, dim, uptight, and judgemental. I am very talented and naturally inquisitive but unable to hold down a steady job (unless that job is the village idiot). I do whatever it takes to make it to the top but I am emotionally fragile behind closed doors. I am a shallow, vapid, most likely overweight GIRL who burps a lot and needs to feel a little fabulous every once in a while.

Fantastic.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and get my fabulousness on.

***BURP!***

Thanks to Buddy TV for all of the graphics and tests and for further mucking about with my issues regarding gender roles.

Also, Happy Birthday Dave!

After eight hours of sitting in an office with a temperature somewhere between 120 degrees and the surface of the sun, my weary body has concluded that i have nothing worthwhile to post today.

But you can bail me out of this mess, loyal readers! If any of you out there have a topic that you think should be given a voice in The One Hundred, leave it in the comments section and, if deemed worthy, it will receive its own post (and you will get an honorable mention as a “One Hundred Muse”!) Plus, you will be the first on your block to receive the all new One Hundred t-shirt! Each shirt is pure cotton with “The One-Hundred.Com” emblazoned on the back and a stunningly lifelike reproduction of Yours Truly or my cohort John on the front.

The only thing missing is shaving cream

*My Top 10 Most Memorable Moviegoing Experiences..

6 – 10 can be found here.

5. The Phantom Menace – As I mentioned last time, our generation is under George Lucas’ thumb. We’ve grown to regret it recently, but before this movie was viewed (and later hated by the general populace) we were singing his praises. He was giving us more Star Wars and we could finally have our own trilogy to experience as most of us were to young to see the O.G. trilogy when it was originally released. Opening night was the hottest ticket in town and I was so happy to go. Saw it at the midnight showing and I saw it again the next day. So was it a great movie? No, not really. Was it fun? Yeah, the podrace was cool. Was it worth the wait? I guess that depends on you. The thing that made this great for me was the anticipation of seeing it. I don’t think anything has matched it since — and that was probably it’s ultimate undoing. But that’s another blog post altogether. Moving on…

4. Army of Darkness – I saw this in Westwood and I think that this may have been one of the first midnight viewings of a movie I have seen — and I’m not even sure it was midnight. All I remember is that there was just a general vibe of weirdness going on and people wanted to see this movie and for some reason non-sequiturs were being shouted out for no apparent reason. “E-rector Set!” That pretty much says it all. The movie was all kinds of weird too… but the crowd was much more interesting.

3. Whatever movie Jon and Aubrey were watching - Turns out it was Harlem Nights and this has already been discussed at length.

2. Pulp Fiction - There really isn’t much that could top this movie going experience. Opening night at Mann’s Chinese theater for a movie that completely blew everyone’s minds. Most of the time when I go to movies, I can sort of figure out the plot before the movie gets there and I don’t know if this says more about me or the movies I go to see. This was one of the rare cases where I could not see where we were going and even if I could have given my best guess as to what was going to happen next, it was still miles away from what QT had up his sleeves. When Butch bursts into the back room of the pawn shop for example… One of the many scenes that are just from out of left field and just grab you and holds your attention like nothing else. Also, the start of Sam Jackson ruling pretty much everything. Just awesome.

1. Say Anything - Above Pulp Fiction? Really? I know. I know! But hear me out. This movie will always be special to me because it was the beginning of when me and my high school friends were able to go out on our own due to Jon getting his license and having a car. It was the beginning of when we turned the corner from being dependent on our parents to independent (even though I still depended on Jon to drive but we’ll gloss over that for now). It was the harbinger to one of the best summers ever. I’ll go ahead and say it: I’m in love with my friends. I will adore that time in my life forever and always and it seems like this is where it all started. Bonus: I also fell in love with Ione Skye. Ah Ione… She’s the cheese and I’m the macaroni…

So there’s my ten. What are yours?

My Top 5 Concerts

February 25th, 2008

audience-2.JPG

Here’s mine. What’s yours?

5. MTV Video Music Awards – September 9, 1992 – Pauley Pavilion, Los Angeles, CA
Where else could you see The Black Crowes, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Guns N Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all on one stage? Sure we had to endure Bobby Brown and Bryan Adams as well, but this was perhaps MTV’s last great moment.

4. Rage Against the Machine – January 23, 1993 – Hollywood Palladium
I had never heard of them before i saw them play at this Rock for Choice benefit. When i asked someone in the audience what they sounded like, they said a cross between Nine Inch Nails and the Beastie Boys. Maybe not, but i have yet to see someone play with the same unbridled energy they had that night.

3. Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band – April 4, 2000 – Tacoma Dome, Tacoma, WA
Bruce was back with the E-Street Band, just as nature intended. Finally getting to hear Thunder Road and Born to Run live almost made up for this. If he had played Backstreets, i could have died a happy man.

2. Guns ‘N Roses & The Rolling Stones – October 22, 1989 – Los Angeles Coliseum
My first real concert. No substitute for getting to see G ‘N R at their peak and The Stones being…well, The Stones, even if i did have to share it with 100,000 of my closest friends.

1. Pearl Jam – The Forum, Los Angeles, CA- July 9 2006 / Key Arena, Seattle Wa – November 2, 2000
Pearl Jam probably could have occupied every slot on this list, but i singled these two out. Seattle because i have never been part of an audience like that one – i thought they were going to bring the stadium down during the encore breaks. And the band fed off of it and gave one of their best performances. LA because…well, because I got to sit front row center. And i feel about front row seats like Ferris Bueller feels about driving a Ferrari – if you ever get the chance, i highly recommend doing it.

Honorable Mention:
U2 – April 15, 1992 – San Diego Sports Arena
This probably would have cracked the Top 5 if it wasn’t for the scary looking man in the row ahead of us threatening me with bodily injury because he (mistakenly) thought i had inappropriately touched his girlfriend. It is hard to fully enjoy a show when you fear for your life. And John, i am still convinced that you sold me out to him to save your own skin…

Counting Crows – October, 1994 – Greek Theatre
A great show soured by the fact that when i saw them three years later they put on one of the worst concerts i have ever seen. You have to be consistent to crack the Top 5.
