TV on the Edge of Memory

I’ve seen a lot of TV in my time. Possibly far more than I should’ve but that’s neither here nor there. The fact remains, every where I go, I usually leave an ass-groove in my wake (of course that could be because of my weight but today’s not Fatty-fat-fat-fat Friday, it’s TV Thursday, silly!). As I hurtle ever faster toward ages I never thought I would get to (nor think of as “not that old”) I’m finding myself reminded of things that were once on the forefront of my mind (or at the very least, the upper middle half) and have since been pushed back to the recesses — so far that sometimes I wonder if they actually existed or if I just dreamed it all because often enough, it seems to weird to be real. Well, thankfully, because of sites like YouTube and really, the entire internet itself, things of that nature will live on just waiting for me to google them back into existence — I just hope that I can remember what it is I almost forgot.
This week: Love American Style.
Does anyone out there remember this show? I remember LOVING this show but I’m not sure why. I’m sure the jokes and subject matter were over my head but upon further inspection (and jumping into my younger self) I would have to say that it’s the theme song (gloriously cheesy catchiness — it will be in your head for the rest of the day) and the fireworks during the title sequence. Isn’t it funny how we used to passionately love things for the simplest things? Do you still? Let me know in the comments.
Here’s your fun fact for the day: Happy Days’ pilot was one of the episodes of Love, American Style. It’s true!

I too loved that show and can’t tell you why. Between that, Thee’s Company, and Love Boat I was being being exposed to hundreds of double entendres that meant nothing to me , but I must have been laughing at Jack getting hit in the nuts or Gopher shrinking his uniform and other silliness.
I think you are on to something re: theme songs. I can hum and/or sing the lyrics to all of those shows.
This show’s theme song is like crack for kids. I swear, I remember nothing about the show except the theme song and opening credits, and yet I used to love the show too. (Damn, that opening is cheesy!)
