For reasons that will be explained in a later blog post, I was having trouble sleeping recently so, at around 4 in the morning I got up and shambled into the living room to see what was on TV.

Turns out that unless you want to see endless infomercials, there’s not a whole lot going on. I switched it over to the On Demand channel to see what could be had. I noticed that there was an HD subsection of the FREE section so, I peeped it out. I decided that I needed to see something in HD simply because we now have this awesome TV and I rarely get to see anything that isn’t kid-centric on it.

Now, I am not sure if it was the lateness or the lack of sleep that impaired my judgment but, I settled on “Date Movie”. And I actually watched it. All of it.

I’m not proud of myself. It did what it was supposed to do (while away the time until I got sleepy again). I do have to state, for the record, that I didn’t pay any money to watch it — but, still, I’m afraid that it may have cost me a piece of my soul.

See that? That’s my family’s new TV. We’re pretty happy about it.

Unfortunately, due to a mishap, we don’t have cable right now, so all we can watch on it is a Spongebob DVD that the boys like.

So, I’m going to try and remain in my happy place until tomorrow when they come to (hopefully) give us cable back and I can finally enjoy all the HD goodness that I know is in there but is being held back by the denizens of Bikini Bottom.

So, the football season started today. Now i like football as much as the next guy, but does anyone else feel that it is not right for football season to start at 4:00 in the afternoon on a Thursday?

No. Football should start on a Sunday morning. You should go to bed that Saturday night like a kid on Christmas Eve, all giddy and unable to sleep thinking about all the presents you are about to receive the next day. And Monday Night Football is like the leftover turkey sandwich you look forward to after Christmas.

So, in summary, i don’t like opening football season on Thursday…nope…not one bit…
